Nope. Just, nope.

Nope. Just, nope.

For those who know me well, they know that I do not handle anything creepy, crawly, or slithery. Bugs and I are not friends. Period.

Moving to South Carolina, I have become aware that I may have moved to the area opposite of my ideal area when it come to bugs.

Just look at that guy!!

And the worst part!? That’s a little guy in comparison to what they can be! Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew…. need I go on? EW!

So, this little (in my opinion he’s huge) guy was scurrying around our hardwood floor in the family room. Hubby and I were sitting on the couch watching shows, in the dark mind you, when out of the corner of my eye I see movement. I alert the Hubs and he immediately grabs a flipflop and goes to town smacking the floor until we hear a hearty crunch. Flip on the light and SURPRISE, our first cockroach.

I later come to find out, down here they do not necessarily call them cockroaches. They are (by some) referred to as Palmetto Bugs, as if that makes them less gross!?! EW! We have seen, and killed, two others, for a total of three, so far. We’ve also had earwigs, rolly polly potato bugs, and gnats in the house, but those are much more do-able than the roaches. Outside we see, or hear, all sorts of stuff, too. The cicadas are SO loud! But we are getting used to their noise now.

I need to check out a book about South Carolina bugs, I guess.

But you better believe, I’ve got my bug guy on speed dial!

Wish me luck, and any tips… shoot them my way, please and thank you!!
